Josef Otmar Mid Century Walnut Desk
Item Details
A Josef Otmar handcrafted mid-century walnut desk. The desk features a ‘floating’ rectangular top; the outer side having open bookshelf cubicles for storage or display and the working side of the desk with a file cabinet and three drawers flanking the open knee-hole space. Josef Otmar (1927-1917) was a fourth generation cabinetmaker who is known as both a designer and a craftsman, specializing in Scandinavian style furniture. This desk was reported to have been purchased from Mr. Otmar personally in the early 1960’s when he was still making furniture in the basement of his home in Montgomery, Ohio.
