Hand-Knotted Romanian Wool Area Rug

Item Details

A large hand-knotted Romanian wool area rug. The rug has been worked in shades of brick red, indigo, carnation, rust, ivory, mauve, emerald, curry, wine, mustard, sky blue, olive, and jade. The red field is populated with Shah Abbasi motifs and large curved lanceolate leaves. The narrow guard borders with floral motifs flank a primary border with a navy ground and palmettes and floral motifs worked in the same palette. The selvedges are overcast and there is short cotton fringe at each end. Unlabeled.
