Vintage Chinese Tack Head Tom Tom
Item Details
A vintage Chinese tack head tom tom, circa 1920s-1930s. This drum was manufactured by Kiwo of ‘Fatshan’ (Foshan or Namhoi), China, as part of ‘trap kit’ drum outfits made for Western export. This drum has hand-painted dragon and phoenix motifs to each 10’ pigskin head, a wooden shell with remnants of its original red lacquer paint, and brass tacks to each side. Its original hanging ring hardware is intact to each side, and one shell is marked ‘Kiwo Drumme, Fatshan, China.’ See the links below for more information on these drums.
