A signed oil painting on masonite Red Poppies of Flanders Fields by American artist J. Lloyd Conrich. This painting depicts a minimalist landscape dominated by a clear blue sky over a vast field of poppies with a village visible in the distance. The artist has juxtaposed the blue sky and red-orange field for maximum contrast, placing the village at the point of highest impact. The piece is signed in red to the lower right. It is presented mounted on red velvet and in a wood frame with gold-tone edging. The verso of this piece Is titled, signed, and dated (1/25/67).
Condition
- the red velvet of the mounting is torn and scratched in several places. The painting surface has a large crack on the left edge. The gold-tone trim is edge is gouged and scratched in several places. There is an empty screw hole visible at the top of the mounting board.
