Antique American Oak Slant Front Writing Desk

An antique American oak slant front writing desk. This quarter sawn oak Queen Anne style writing desk has a low pediment with a central floral motif behind the top of the desk, which has a rope carved border above a moulded surround. Below the carved top is the slant front door of the desk which when lowered forms the writing surface and reveals a fitted interior composed of nine cubby holes, two drawers and a long cubby hole below. Under the writing surface is a single reverse serpentine drawer front with two brass bail pulls; all above the scrolled apron; with the case resting upon two square tapering legs in the rear and two turned cabriole legs ending on stylized Spanish feet in the front. Unmarked.
