An antique Chinese export leather and camphorwood chest. This red leather trunk is decorated with hand painted floral surrounds on the top and sides, as well as brass reinforcement strips on the edges of the top, a brass ring and shield shaped brass escutcheon on the front, brass bail handles on the sides, and hundreds of decorative convex head brass tacks on the top and sides of the trunk. Leather nailed to outer wooden trunk with the interior lined with camphorwood.

Condition

- fading and darkening to the top of the trunk from sun and rain, hinges replaced, key missing, scuffing, rubs and scratches to the leather; bumps and dings to the brass edging.
