An antique American walnut marble top table. This 1880’s table made of walnut, burl walnut veneer and oak secondary wood is a transitional piece stylistically with a base most often seen on Rococo Revival and Renaissance Revival tables and a apron and marble shape moving toward the designs of Charles Eastlake. The table, on four scrolled and moulded legs on castors are attached to a central turned column with a finial at the base; with the legs and column each attaching to the oak boards that support the apron and marble top; with the apron having rounded corners, incised line carving around the entire apron with panels of burl walnut veneer in between the lines and four decorative elements with incised lines and X’s. The top made of a rectangular white marble slab with slightly bevelled edges and rounded corners. Unmarked.

Condition

- castors need to be cleaned and then lubricated, area under slab quite dusty, marks, scuffs and scratches to the base.
