Hand-Knotted Qashqai Tribal Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Qashqai wool area rug. The rug has been worked in an abrash palette that includes shades of apple, tangerine, steel gray, wine, black, ivory, robin’s egg blue, and sand. The field features three diamond pole medallions edged in hooked borders. The remainder of the field is populated with paired rooster motifs, small geometric flowers, tiny birds, and small medallions in each corner. There is a series of hooked triangle motifs at the innermost border which is infilled with a chain of abstract S shapes. The unresolved primary border has an ivory ground and features a geometric floral pattern while the outermost border includes a design of birds’ heads. The selvedges are overcast in blue and red and there is natural wool fringe at each end. Not labeled.
