A hand-knotted Persian area rug. This rug is hand-knotted in a palette of pomegranate red, amber, bright orange, deep brown, emerald green, and cobalt. It features an amber colored field with an all over lattice design and a diamond shaped center medallion.The vivid red spandrels have sawtooth borders and are patterned with symbolic motfs of amulets, trees of life, and angular flowers. The main border features alternating oak leaf designs and lobbed flowers with an interior carnation meander guard border. It has short fringe to either end and overcast selvedges. Unmarked.
