A vintage Chippendale style secretary desk by Maddox Table Company of Jamestown, New York. This serpentine piece is constructed of mahogany with locking slant-front desk opens to reveal a single-door cabinet flanked by open cubbies over a row of four small inset drawers. The top rests on retractable supports to either side. Four dovetailed drawers feature serpentine fronts and pierced brass backplates to bail pull hardware. It is raised on low cabriole legs with ball-and-claw feet. The manufacturer’s sticker is attached to the unfinished verso. This item is located on the main level of the home..
