Item Details

A cast plaster wall frieze with Art Nouveau-inspired imagery rendered in low relief. The piece depicts two mermaids holding a central medallion, surrounded by floral and foliate designs and a decorative frame-motif border. The piece includes a hanging wire to the verso. No signature or maker’s mark was found.

Condition

- crack to front running vertically near top right; scattered nicks and chips, with large chip to top center and smaller chips at edges and corners; scattered surface wear and discoloration throughout; discoloration to verso; oxidation and wear to metal hanging hardware.
