Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Qashqai area rug. This wool carpet is hand-knotted in a palette of burnt orange, red, umber, indigo,gray, and cream. It has a hexagonal medallion with corbeled edges on a red lozenge densely patterned with symbolic motifs including trees of life, peacocks, dogs, lobbed flowers, and cruciform shapes. The deep indigo colored corner spandrels have the same geometric animal designs with large rosette medallions in each corner. The main border features a diamond and square grid pattern and it is bracketed with sawtooth guard borders. The rug has natural warp fringe to either end, overcast selvedges, and it is marked to the verso ‘Made in Iran’.
