W. Wood & Co. English Ceramic Biscuit Jar with Silver Plate Lid
Item Details
A ceramic biscuit jar by William Wood & Co. (Burslem, England). This piece features a ceramic exterior jar with an orange peony and blue foliage motif, as well as beaded trim around the base of the neck. The jar is stamped with the crowned Staffordshire knot marks with the initials ‘W & W’ within each loop, as well as ‘Co.’ used between 1915 – 1932. The underside is also stamped with the registration number 117571. The jar features a silver-plated removable lid with a pointed finial along with a silver-plated rim and bail handle. The lid is stamped, ‘E.P.N.S’ on the underside.
Condition
- surface wear including crazing to ceramic jar; scratches, nicks, and tarnish to silver plate.
