French Art Nouveau Oak Buffet with Gilt-Bronze Mounts

A French Art Nouveau, circa 1920s, oak buffet with gilt-bronze mounts. This two-piece buffet features a cabinet with a curved crest rail and center set gilt-bronze mount over a pair of glass framed cabinet doors that open to two shelves and a vertical plank back. Between the cabinet doors is a beveled mirror with a slender floral mount. The stiles are fitted with gilt-bronze mounts and support the cabinets and a recessed space set with a mirror. The buffet has a marble top over a case with two dovetailed drawers and two cabinets. The drawers feature inlaid banding and the cabinet doors are burled veneered. The case is heavily embellished with gilt-bronze mounts including swags, buttons, and keyhole escutcheons (with keys). The rectangular space between the cabinet doors has a dark oak veneer with two bands of lighter oak veneers and finished with a gilt-bronze wreath. The piece rests on turned legs.
