Item Details
A vintage handwoven Polish Cepelia accent rug. This rug features a color palette of cool grays, lilac, pale blue, violet, mint, aqua and white. It it patterned with diagonal and horizontal stripes, creating a hill landscape effect. Small clusters of trees and abstracted buildings are incorporated into the design as well. It is marked on the reverse with a tag that identifies the weaver as Anna Miehniewier. Cepelia, or Central Organization of Folk Art Industries, was formed in 1949 to promote Polish folk art traditions and to provide economic opportunity in the post World War II era.
