Handwoven Signed Polish Cepelia Wool and Flax Accent Rug
Item Details
A pair of signed handwoven Polish wool and flax accent rugs. Each rug is attributed to Zophia Sobecka and bears an Impressionistic style in a palette of earth tones. The rug in the cooler palette depicts a scenic view of a town with trees in the foreground and background, signed ‘SZ’ to the lower left. The other rug offered features a warmer palette and depicts a similar scene with prominent foliage, and signed ‘ZS’ to the lower right. Both of the rugs are finished with overcast selvedges and folded ends along with plush undersides which is characteristic of the weaving process. Labeled in Polish; ‘Cepelia’ translates to ‘Art Shop’.
