A hand-knotted Indian Bara Bijar style wool area rug. The rug has been worked in shades of madder, claret, robin’s egg blue, ashes of roses, indigo, black, white, sage green, and coral. The madder field is populated with arabesques, stylized flowers, and leaves. The compound borders inlcude carnation and meander motifs, crenellations, and leaves and fines flanking a turtle border with scrolls. There is fringe at each end. Unmarked.
