Finely Hand-Knotted Turkish Garden Silk Prayer Rug
Item Details
A finely hand-knotted Turkish garden silk prayer rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of indigo, ivory, cranberry, turquoise, rose, cornsilk, slate, camel, and silver. The overpopulated field features a layered mirhab with elaborate floral motifs, a large highly detailed flower filled vase, along with colorful bird and deer motifs. Framing the ornate field is a main overly stylized herati pattern embellished with birds motifs, and guarded with a pair of repeated lobed flower borders. Finishing this beautiful rug are double overcast selvedges with a fine knotted natural warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
