Item Details
An antique English William IV period mahogany veneer chest of drawers. This bow front chest from the 1830’s is the final incarnation of the Sheraton design book, with bulbous reeded feet and exaggerated scrolled apron and a heaviness not seen 25 years prior. This chest with a wide veneered edge on the top, has turned capitals on top of octagonal pilasters standing on four ring turnings, ending in heavy reeds on thick blunt arrow feet. The chest has five bowed finely hand dovetailed drawers, two on top side by side over three long drawers one over the other with all having turned mahogany knobs inset with a roundel. No key. Unmarked.
