1819 Thomas Wilkes Barker Sterling Spoon with Other Sterling Tableware
Item Details
A six-piece collection of sterling silver tableware and decor. This includes a large serving spoon from 1819 by London silversmith Thomas Wilkes Barker, which features a pointed oval bowl on a tipped fiddle handle with pointed shoulders. The back of the handle is stamped with the ‘TB’ maker’s mark along with four hallmarks of a lion passant for sterling, a crowned leopard’s head for London, a ‘d’ date mark for 1819, and a George III duty mark. It is presented with a sterling-fronted picture frame with personalized engravings, a weighted sterling compote by Revere Silversmiths, and a set of three sterling rimmed glass coasters by Frank M. Whiting, all marked for silver fineness. The approximate weight of the spoon is 3.815 ozt.
