Hand-Knotted Persian Kurdish Area Rug
Item Details
A Persian Kurdish area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a purposefully abrashed palette of rose, sapphire, midnight blue, camel, and peach. It begins with a serrated hexagonal medallion grounded in midnight blue. The medallion rests on a rose-colored hexagonal lozenge, which in turn overlays a sapphire-colored field. Filler motifs include concentric diamonds, stylized flower heads, and other geometric elements. The field is framed by six narrow borders, including a stylized floral meander, repeating boteh, and repeating serpent patterns. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
