A hand-knotted Quchan area rug. This short-pile Persian tribal rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of rose, dark slate blue, cream, and crimson. It begins with a large octagonal medallion at the center of a slate blue field. The medallion is flanked by two polygonal medallions, each with stem-like extrusions at the top and bottom. Fillers include serrated ashik motifs, flowerheads, and hand-like forms. The field is framed by four borders featuring florets and geometrirc patterns over crimson and cream. Selvedges are double overcast in blue, the rug finishing at top and bottom with short cotton warp fringe. Unlabeled.
