A hand-knotted signed Persian Qum area rug. This wool carpet is hand-knotted in a palette of cranberry red, midnight blue, ivory, peach, olive, and cobalt. This rug has a scalloped diamond shaped medallion in ivory and cobalt blue on a cranberry red field patterned with vasiform shapes, lancet leaves, elegant white birds, deer, and flower blossoms. At each of the four corners are large boteh medallions in vivid cobalt and cerulean blues. The main border features a design of deer, birds, and flowers arranged in vases . It has broken guard borders with lobbed flowers and curled lancet leaves. It is signed by the weaver along the edge of the rug. It has cotton warp fringe and is unmarked.
