Vintage Wood and Cast Iron School House Desk
Item Details
A vintage, circa early twentieth century, wood and cast iron school house desk. The desk was designed to be placed with other desks in rows. It has a wooden desktop mounted just behind the chair, which is made of ornate black cast iron, with a wood plank seat. The desktop has a groove for holding pencils and a hole drilled through for holding an ink bottle (ink bottle not included). The wood top shows old carved graffiti from past students, including some hearts and a diamond shape and other markings. The feet of the desk legs are drilled to allow it to be screwed down to a floor, but they are currently attached to wooden bases. The wood plank seat is attached to a cast iron hinge that allows the seat to be folded up out of the way when desired. No maker’s marks.
