Hand-Knotted Turkmen Area Rug

A hand-knotted Turkmen wool area rug. This tribal rug features a latticed field in a palette of cranberry, caramel, black, midnight blue, and ivory. It begins with three vertical rows of hexagonal Tekke-style medallions interspersed with Chemche guls, over a cranberry field. The field is framed by two borders, including a geometric floral meander pattern over midnight blue and an outer guard border filled with scrolls in midnight blue over cranberry. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at each end with wool and camel hair warp fringe. Unlabeled.
