Hand-Knotted Indo-Bokhara Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Bokhara area rug. This wool rug, attributed to Indian weavers, features a Turkmen-inspired lattice design in a palette of camel, pink, saffron, and black. It begins with a camel-colored field featuring two vertical rows of hexagonal medallions, each atop a vertical tripartite pole; these elements are interspersed with irregularly shaped diamond medallions and partial medallions. The field is framed by compound borders featuring geometric patterns. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
