A hand-knotted Indo-Qashqai area rug. This wool rug features a design inspired by Persian Qashqai tribal rugs in a palette of cranberry, pink, tangerine, and black. It begins with three fused diamond medallions at the center of a cranberry field, which is cornered with black spandrels, each containing a medallion similar to those in the field. Populating the field and spandrels are images of peacocks, pinwheels, flowering plants, ram’s horns, and other geometric motifs. The design is corner to corner, without borders. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with variegated wool warp fringe. Unlabeled.
