An original watercolor on paper by American artist Jean Margolin from the mid 20th Century. This expressive landscape painting features a cow grazing near a tree, painted in varying tones of black and gray. Unsigned and unframed.
Jean Spielberg Margolin (b. 1926) was an American artist born in New York City. A member of the Graphics Workshop Collective, Margolin was educated at Indiana University and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture where she was the recipient of the 1st Prize Purchase Award in 1954. Her work has been exhibited at the John Herron Art Museum (Indianapolis), the Speed Art Museum (Louisville) and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Her work remains in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum, New York.
