Palace-Sized Hand-Knotted Pakistani "Mahal" Runner

A palace-sized Pakistani runner. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a variegated palette of cream, sapphire, terracotta, and camel. It features a Persian Mahal-style design incorporating herati palmettes, curling lancet leaves, flowers, and stylized vinework over a cream-colored field. Framing the field are four borders, including a herati main border grounded in cream, featuring meandering flowerheads and palmettes. The outer guard border is cream and camel. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory cotton warp fringe. It is tagged on the reverse.
