Antique Victorian Three-Tier Walnut Server

Item Details

An antique Victorian three-tier walnut server, circa third quarter of the 19th century. The frame features a rear gallery with a row of openwork rings supported by pierced foliate motifs alternating with cabochons. Flanking the gallery is a pair of square posts topped by arches with shallow-carved leaves and berries against a stippled ground. Directly below are three rectangular shelves with figured veneers, molded edges, and rounded corners supported by leaf- and berry-carved brackets. The two lower, back panels are applied with racetrack moldings and the base is fitted with two aligned, dovetailed drawers. The fronts have spindled handles with ball terminals and the server rises on ball-carved, front feet ending in brass casters.
