A pair of woodblock prints on woven paper of nocturnal scenes titled Cryptomerias Trees in Nikko and Large Torch at Nigatsu-do Temple by listed Japanese artist Eiichi Kotozuka (1906-1979). Large Torch at Nigatsu-do Temple depicts the steps leading up to a temple lit with lanterns and with billowing smoke coming from a red ember. The piece Cryptomerias Trees in Nikko depicts a dark, forest-lined road with men carrying lanterns and leading donkeys. Artist’s signature and cartouche to lower right on temple piece and lower left on tree-lined road piece. Presented as loose work without mat or frame.
