A chromolithograph poster print on paper for magician McDonald Birch (American, 1902 – 1992) and company. The poster advertises ‘50 startling mysteries’ including the ‘sensational vanishing pony’. Mounted onto board and housed in a black-tone wood frame without glass. Birch was well-known for his two-hour, unassisted shows. Later, he would perform with his wife Mabel, acting as the assistant and musician. Birch’s most famous tricks were the ‘vanishing pony’ and the ‘silk mirage’.
Condition
- minor scratches and scuffs to the poster, concentrated along the lower third of the poster; minor wear to the edges of the frame.
