Item Details
An original oil painting on canvas by Virginia artist Blanche Kirchner. This expressive painting depicts a woman seated in an indoor setting, reading from a book. The figure and surrounding environment have been distilled down to flattened essential shapes and muted colors. The work is initialed near the bottom ‘B.K.’, and signed and dated 1964 in black ink on the verso. It is presented in a gold tone wood frame with a white liner. There is a sawtooth hanging bracket mounted to the top of the verso.
Condition
- residue on bottom slat of frame; minor scuffs on frame; toning and foxing on verso of canvas.
