A watercolor painting on heavy stock paper titled Green Cheese by well-listed artist Beth Hertz (Dayton/New York, b. 1920). Created in 1978, the colorful work depicts a green circle amidst a field of color. Dated and signed by the artist to the lower right corner, using an ‘E’ for the artist’s full name, Elizabeth. Titled on a hand-written label to the verso. Housed in a wood frame under glass. Accompanied by an exhibition catalog on the artist from the Cincinnati Art Gallery.

Beth Hertz studied with Stanton MacDonald-Wright and was influenced by early 20th-century Synchromism, a modernist American movement that explored the relationship between color and music. Hertz studied at the Art Students League in New York, the Dayton Art Institute, and received her MFA at Ohio University. Her paintings have been collected by museums as well as private and corporate collections in New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Iowa and California.
