Souvenir Embroidery Work with Certificates of Pilgrimage from Jerusalem
Item Details
An embroidery work on silk with certificates of pilgrimage from sites in Jerusalem. With a floral motif and palmette arches, the embroidery depicts the sites: the Tower of David, the Mosque of Omar, and more. To the upper left is a signed certificate of pilgrimage awarded in 1945 from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. To the lower right is a souvenir prayer card with a dried leaf from a tree in the Garden of Gethsemane. All items are housed in a gilt wood frame under glass.
Condition
- dust to the glass; wear to the gold-tone finish on the frame; minor discoloration to the papers and the fabric.
