Hand-Knotted Persian Hamadan Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan carpet runner. This wool rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of strawberry, sapphire, dusty pink, midnight blue, and cream. It begins with a single, partly freeform medallion grounded in sapphire and cream, resting on a strawberry-colored field. The field is filled with symmetrically arranged vases with flowering plants and sprays of flowers. Spandrels are defined with irregularly shaped boundaries. Framing the field are three borders, including a highly stylized geometric herati main border over cream and two minor borders featuring running water patterns over midnight blue. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. Unlabeled.
