A handwoven Turkish kilim. This wool area rug is rendered in a colorful palette of cherry, pale yellow, cream, indigo, and heathered gray. It features a lattice pattern of ashik medallions enclosed in stepped diamonds in alternating ground colors. Framing the field are two borders, including a main border grounded in heathered gray and filled with wolf’s mouth motifs, and a sawtooth outer guard border in pale yellow and cherry. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at each end with knotted ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
