A hand-colored halftone print on paper titled Tattenham Corner after an 1871 aquatint by W. Summers after a painting by listed British artist Henry Alken (1810 – 1894). The piece depicts a late 19th-century horse racing scene with hand-embellished accents in green, blue, yellow, red, orange, brown and pink. The print includes title and artist information printed in plate along the lower margin. It is matted in cream and presented under glass in a black and gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire mounted to the verso.

Condition

- discoloration to print and matting; moisture damage with stains and buckling along right side of matting; print and matting are off-center and not fully secure inside frame; edge wear, scuffing and nicks to frame; tears and moisture marks to frame’s backing paper.
