Matthews Co. and Wm Rogers Mfg. Co. Weighted Sterling Candleholders
Item Details
A four-piece collection of weighted sterling silver candleholders. This includes a pair of short candleholders by Matthews Co. of Newark, NJ (active c.1907-c.1936), featuring foliate and beaded accents to the bases. They are stamped to the undersides with the ‘M’ and sword maker’s mark above ‘sterling 1250-2’, ‘Cement Filled’, and a retailer’s mark of ‘B.B.& B. Co.’ for Bailey, Banks, & Biddle. They are presented with another pair by Wm. Rogers Mfg. Co., marked to the undersides ‘Wm. Rogers Mfg. Co. Sterling Weighted Reinforced 184 15’.
Condition
- mild surface wear including small dents, marks, scratches, and tarnishing; some wax residue.
