A hand-knotted Qashqai wool area rug. This finely knotted rug is rendered in a palette of cranberry, indigo, wine, ivory, clementine, and emerald. The indigo colored field features three diamond pole medallions, along with large flower and leaf motifs, and small repeated star medallions. Framing the field is a main stylized leaf and calyx border with added rectilinear medallions, along with unique striped guards with added leaf and geometric motifs, and a chained S guard border as well. Finishing the rug are quadruple overcast selvedges with a geometric pattern embroidered to the natural warp, and a wool fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
