A mixed media painting of an abstracted oval shape titled Inner Core by artist Charlotte Lowry Collins. The oil painting depicts an abstracted oval shape containing a spinal cord, pelvis, ribs, and clavicle, which is painted on and carved from a textural ground that appears to be plaster, surrounded by dark green, blue, and yellow forms which are painted on board. The composition is signed to the lower right, ‘Charlotte Lowry Collins’ and is presented within a carved wooden frame painted a gold tone. An inscription to the verso reads ‘Charlotte Lowry Collins; Inner Core; and a phone number’. The verso is fitted with a set of d-rings and wire for hanging.
Condition
- some discoloration and marking to the white border surrounding the piece, most noticeably in the upper right; scratching to the frame in the upper left; wear and minor tearing to the paper backing.
