Antique Hand-Painted "Charlotte" Frozen China Doll
Item Details
An antique hand-painted Charlotte china doll in bathtub. This frozen china doll features hand-painted raven hair, rosy cheeks, and red lips, and lays in a glazed ceramic bathtub. Popular during the Victorian era, these dolls were produced between c. 1850-1920, and originate from a folk ballad titled ‘Fair Charlotte’. The piece is unmarked, but was most likely crafted in Germany.
Condition
- repair at end of tub; discoloration from faded gilt work to feet of doll.
