A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan area rug.This wool carpet is hand-knotted in a palette of muted red, coral, mink, gray, ivory,burgundy and brown. It features an eight pointed medallion on a red field patterned with a geometric _herait_motif with lancet leaves,palmettes, and diamond forms. It has ivory colored crenelated corner spandrels with an interior running water pattern border. It features an unresolved main border with a simplified samovar pattern with guard borders of meandering flowers and waving lines. It has applied fringe to either end with overcast selvedges. Unmarked.
