An offset lithograph after artist Arthur J. Elsley’s (b. 1860) painting The Rescue Party. The print depicts a young girl astride a St. Bernard alongside two other children on a rocky sea shore. Print is signed in-plate to the lower left, dated ‘1909’ and presented beneath two mats and glass within a carved wooden frame painted a gold tone. Framing tag and label including information about the original painting and the offset lithograph attached to the verso. Verso is fixed with a set of metal loops and wire for hanging.
Condition
- slight wear to the frame; denting and warping to the paper backing; foxing and discoloration to the information label attached to the verso.
