An ink drawing on paper titled The Water-Witch by Rachel P. McClelland (Pennsylvania, 20th-century), c. early 20th-century. Depicted is a fantastical underwater scene with several mermaids gathered around a female figure holding an orb. Fish and boulders appear behind them. Signed to the lower right in graphite and titled to the top center. A red Carnegie Technical School Department of Illustration stamp appears to the lower right dated December 10, 1912. The work remains unmounted and unframed.

McClelland was a Member of the Associated Artist of Pittsburgh.

Condition

- pale foxing around the edges; slight discoloration throughout’ some torn and bent edges.
