A circa 1929 limited edition etching with aquatint on rag paper titled La Femme au Piano by well listed French cubist artist and printmaker Jacques Villon (Gaston Duchamp, 1875 – 1963) after a work by listed French painter Marcel Gromaire (1892 – 1971). The abstract piece depicts a female figure in red seated while playing the piano in an interior setting with mottled blue and brown walls. The work is signed in graphite to the lower left, noted with ‘Gromaire’ to the lower right and numbered as 193 out of an edition of 200. It is matted in off-white and presented under acrylic glass in a black wooden frame with hanging wire mounted to the verso.

Condition

- slight discoloration and foxing to paper and matting with age; edge wear, scratching and scuffing to frame.
