Antique Sheraton Walnut Sugar Chest, Circa 1820-1840
Item Details
An antique Sheraton walnut sugar chest, circa 1820-1840. The dovetailed case features a rectangular, hinged lid opening to a divided, two-compartment interior. Directly below is a strip of applied molding over a single, dovetailed drawer with a three-compartment interior. The drawer front is fitted with a pair of turned knobs and the chest rises on short, ring-turned legs.
The chest is in the regional style of Central Kentucky and Middle Tennessee. It is unmarked by the maker.

- case has been refinished; lid is replaced; drawer missing one interior divider; some former pest damage (worming) to drawer bottom with mouse chew marks on drawer secondaries; drawer knobs are possibly later.
