A collection of four books published by the Record Commissions of Great Britain and the United Kingdom between 1800 and 1837. These Royal Commissions were create to inquire into the state of the state archives and historical records of England and Great Britain, culminating in the establishment of the Public Records Office in 1838. The books in this collection are Reports from the Select Committee, Appointed to Inquire into the State of the Public Records of the Kingdom, &c. (c. 1800); Rotulorum Originalium in Curia Scaccarii Abbreviatio: Vol. I, Temporibus Regum Hen. III. Ed. I. & Ed. II (1805); Reports from Commissioners Vol. XXXIV–Part II, ‘Public Records’ (c. 1837); and General Report to the King in Council from the Honourable Board of Commissioners on the Public Records, Appointed by His Majesty King William IV, by a Commission Dated the 12th of March in the First Year of His Reign (1837). All four books were bound in half leather on boards. Some volumes include facsimile engravings of historic documents.
