Vintage Moriage Dragonware Porcelain Tableware

Item Details

An eight piece collection of Japanese moriage dragonware porcelain serveware. Moriage is a type of decoration created by applying designs in relief to the surface of a piece, much like piping frosting onto a cake. A popular design created with this method is a dragon or dragonware, which is featured here. These pieces show a winged, open mouthed white dragon on a matte grey and white ground with beaded detail to the rims. Included in this group is a teapot, a creamer, four saucers and two plates. Marks represented are Shofu and RS Japan.
