An 1829 hardcover first edition of Mary Hughs’ novel Emma Mortimer, published by Thomas Ash of Philadelphia. It is bound in a full-leather hardcover with embossed and gilt decorated boards and spine, and silk endpapers. Inscribed to the front free flyleaf ‘John Vaughan, Esq., from the Author’, although this has not been professionally authenticated.
